East Coast Operations Supervisor

Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for technicians, warehouse upkeep and efficient scheduling in the East Coast and any additional areas of coverage.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Is responsible for efficient job scheduling of technicians.
  • To carry out the specified task(s) required to ensure all technician have all required information to complete jobs.
  • Ensure warehouse personnel is maintaining the facility and performing all duties.
  • Responsible for technician’s timecards, work schedules, scheduling vacations and all other applicable items.
  • Field audits to be performed on a minimum of 3 tech’s a year
  • Responsible for safety meetings and submission of reports to HSSE.
  • 24/7 communication and availability for the personnel/clients in the area.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A High School Diploma and/or relevant industry experience. Knowledge of international cargo operations is an advantage.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret instructional and technical materials in English relating to procedures and safety; and applicable government regulations.  Ability to write, in English, applicable reports and correspondence clearly. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, schedulers, and clients.

Able to communicate with vessel officers, expeditors and terminal representatives so as to direct the vessel or terminal operations when required for cargo operations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and quantities (linear, volumetric, or weight) and to read and interpolate applicable data and tables.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formats.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Familiarity with basic computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs is required; additionally, must possess the capability to learn additional programs through instruction provided by AmSpec Services LLC.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintaining a professional appearance and attitude and acting in harmony with fellow employees, clients, other AmSpec locations and all terminals/barge companies/agents.

Interacting and communicating with job site personnel, clients and vessel personnel in a proper, professional and business-like manner at all times.

TRANSPORTATION TO JOB SITES:

Supervisor must keep company/rented vehicle in good, safe operating condition to transport in all ambient weather conditions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

AmSpec Services LLC requires inspectors to meet the following physical qualifications:

Pass the drug and alcohol test specified by AmSpec Services LLC for safety-sensitive employees.

Pass an annual pulmonary fitness test.

Qualify annually for respirator fit test.

Qualify annually, based on the results of an OSHA-designated blood test, for work in areas containing certain levels of hydrocarbon vapors.

Be able to safely perform FTO work while wearing required safety equipment, regardless of ambient weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and to smell.  The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms; and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Be able to climb storage tank ladders and stairs, typically 25 to 80 feet high, as required for any job assignment, while carrying 30 lb. of hoses, pails/buckets or equipment.

Be able to climb vessel gangways, ladders, Jacob’s ladders and stairs, as required for any job assignment.

Be able to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea, when such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).

Be able to work in confined spaces (as defined by OSHA), wearing appropriate respiratory and skin protection equipment.

Pass a physical examination by a physician designated by AmSpec Services LLC, both before employment and at any time during employment upon request of AmSpec Services LLC to confirm the Surveyors ability to perform the essential job functions of the position.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
